About Us

In August 2003, just before their senior year at Brandeis University, Emily and Bert first met while training to be orientation leaders. Soon after meeting, they began making up excuses to hang out with each other and spending time together every day. A couple weeks later, they started dating and have been together ever since!

After college, Emily started law school at Cornell and Bert began his graduate studies at Columbia. Although the long-distance relationship was extremely difficult, they made it through and moved in together after Emily took the bar exam in the summer of 2007. Four years later, Bert completed his Ph.D. in computer science and accepted a postdoctoral research position at the University of Maryland. So, in September 2011, Emily and Bert moved from New York City to Silver Spring, Maryland, where they currently reside. They are looking forward to sharing their wedding day with family and friends on September 9, 2012, which is exactly one week before their 9th anniversary!
